Solution:  When trying to load some sites in Internet Explorer 7, 8 or 9 the page “crashes” and IE says the tab has been

recovered.  I see this a lot at work and the solution for me (every time so far) is to disable an option in IE called “Enable memory protection to help mitigate online attacks”.

Now, this option may help to prevent “online attacks” but it sure causes way too many crashes to be worth having it enabled.  Here’s how to disable it.

tab has been recovered

  1. Open Internet Explorer.
  2. Click Tools.
  3. Click Internet Options.
  4. Click the Advanced Tab.
  5. Scroll almost to the bottom (it’s under security).
  6. Find the option “Enable memory protection to help mitigate online attacks” and uncheck it.
  7. Click Apply and then Click OK.
  8. Restart IE and then load the site that was crashing the tab in IE.
